In in the midst of mostly good news coming out of China about the paralympics, there is another disability story coming out of China this week. Various news sources are reporting the arrests of a gang in Guangdong province alleged to have killed between 100 and 400 people with disabilities to sell their corpses on the black market.Many of the victims had mental disabilities or were frail elderly people. Bodies were sold on the black market for about $1500 CDN to families who wanted to bury their own family members, which is illegal in China. The victims bodies were substituted for their relatives and sent for cremation. For more details on this story, see icad.
