Dear Zachary: Just see it!

Sure to be one of the best documentaries from 2008, and already the winner of a long string of awards, Kurt Kuenne’s Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son about His Father is a true knock out. I just saw the repeat showing at the EIFF. The film zips, twists, and turns, but never loses sight of its raison d’etre of paying a video tribute to a close friend of Kuenne’s, Andrew Bagby, whose life was tragically cut short. But the story, much of which takes place in Newfoundland, is one that casts its own dark shadow.
